I was new to the whole fitness scene when I joined (Previous Gym). My experience with Tyson began when he observed a friend and I puzzling over some of the equipment and said, "Hey, would you like some help with that?" We sure did! He pointed out a few things to try, given our physical challenges and then suggested a 6-week introductory program for us. I followed up with another 6-week program. I'm a 60 years old female, with a few aches and pains. I'm not concerned about heart health or weight--I just want to strengthen my body and correct some old inefficient tendencies that create ongoing problems. I want to be able to hike, garden, and just enjoy movement the way my body was intended to move.
Tyson was fantastic at hearing what I said about my goals, what challenges my body has experienced in the past, and how to use the equipment safely so as not to exacerbate old injuries. I appreciated his knowledge of human anatomy, and his explanations about how the whole body structure works were right-sized so that I could apply them to the work with the machines and on the mat. Tyson was always willing to suggest a different machine or activity if something wasn't right for my particular situation. He was supportive and encouraging without being overwhelming or pushy. He would often stop by when he saw me at the gym to see how things were going and ask if I needed any help. My experience with beginning a work-out program was great because of Tyson, and it resulted in a routine that can be sustainable. I am looking forward to working with him in the future as I create new goals for myself.
